ROHTAK: Haryana chief minister Manohar Lal on Friday said Rs 290 crore had been donated to the chief minister’s relief rund (CMRF) to help the needy during the coronavirus pandemic.
Sharing details at a press conference here, Khattar said 16 lakh people had been given assistance from the fund, ranging from Rs 3,000 to Rs 5,000.
Free ration was distributed during April, May and June, with Rs 107 crore being spent on the exercise, he added.
He said Rs 75 crore had been donated by pension holders. Also, 300 employees donated a month’s salary to the fund.
All MLAs have also given a month’s salary to the fund and would give 30% of the salary through the year, he said.
Farmers have also donated to this fund and donations have even come from children, he said.
On the Baroda assembly seat bypoll, CM Khattar said he would take care of the poll-bound constituency like his own till the elections.
On the challenge thrown by opposition leader Bhupinder Singh Hooda to contest election from Baroda, Khattar said there was no need of doing it for an elected MLA. “Any grassroots member of the party is capable of contesting elections from Baroda and winning it,” he added.
He rubbished the rise in unemployment rate in the state by saying that the data provided by opposition Congress had no truth in it.
