Tuesday night's Mulberry Street shooting isn’t a bizarre story. It’s just a preview of more strange things to come.

Today, Fall River is overburdened with street crime, drugs and gangs. Many of these people are nonworking, have no pride, don't pay taxes and want the government to take care of them.

Fall River has become a dumping ground by surrounding more affluent communities who want to purge themselves of lowlifes and to clean up their crime-ridden neighborhoods. Unfortunately, our city leaders have never had the courage to say no to state officials who are responsible for putting these people in our once proud city.

Areas known for high levels of gang-related street crimes (and there are many now in Fall River) that include shootings, robberies and drug related activity should be declared combat zones. City officials should ship all the lowlifes living here back to where they came from.

It’s time for Fall River and absentee landlords to stop accommodating this trash who contribute nothing to society and disrupt the quality of life for many city residents.

I'm all for providing assistance for those who are less fortunate and those who may have fallen on hard times. There are many poor and underprivileged individuals in this city who do care and are trying to survive. However, to provide assistance to someone who chooses a life of crime, create mayhem and live off the government, I say enough is enough.

We need to reduce the amount of people allowed to settle in this city, those who contribute nothing to society or to improving the city’s health and welfare. Until elected officials and law enforcement take corrective action there will be more stories like that in the Mulberry Street article.

For the record, I am not a Trump supporter, nor do I agree with any of his policies.
