3 COVID deaths in a day take Goa’s toll to 12

The state on Saturday witnessed three new COVID-19 deaths taking the death toll to 12.

All the three COVID patients, who succumbed to the deadly virus, are residents of Vasco and they include an 80-year-old female from Rumdawada, a 31-year-old youth from Baina and a 75-year-old man from Khariwada.

Out of the 12 COVID fatalities in the state, seven alone are from the port town, which is the worst-affected area and has emerged as a major hotspot in the state.  

As per the health bulletin issued by the directorate of health services, all the three COVID patients passed away while undergoing treatment at the Margao-based COVID hospital. The DHS has claimed that all the three patients had ‘co-morbid’ conditions.

The virus has torn through every rural and urban area of Goa and the sudden rise in COVID-related deaths has become a cause of grave concern for health authorities and the people of the state.

The COVID fatalities also include an 85-year-old man from Morlem in Sattari, a 58-year-old man from Khariwada in Vasco and a 76-year-old woman from Fatorda, who passed away in the last week of June.

The other deaths reported during this month include 66-year-old man from Satissmovado in Taleigao, a 74-year-old woman from Curtorim, a 45-year-old man from Khariwada, a 72-year-old man from Chicalim, Vasco, a 65-year-old man from Desai Nagar in Sankhali and a 50-year-old man from New Vaddem in Vasco.
