Police sources said here on Friday that Moti Paswan, the husband of Karu Devi, a resident of Chhotki Shephaiya village, often used to beat her with his wife, due to which she had gone to her maternal home.

A few days ago Moti Paswan brought his wife home. Her husband again assaulted Karu Devi on Thursday night and later threw acid on her while she was asleep. The injured woman has been admitted to Jayaprakash Narayan Hospital in Gaya, where her condition remains critical.

Sources said that after getting information about the incident, the people of nearby caught Moti Paswan and handed him over to the police after beating him. After treating Moti Paswan, the police arrested him and sent him to jail.
