Tamil Nadu lifts restriction on issuing income and assets certificates to EWS

CHENNAI: The Tamil Nadu government has lifted restriction on issuing income and asset certificates to the economically weaker section (EWS).
The government has sent out a circular to all district collectors, lifting the restriction that affected aspirants for central government jobs and those who seek admission to professional courses in central government educational institutions.
In the circular, principal secretary of commissioner of revenue administration K Phanindra Reddy instructed the collectors to issue income and asset certificates to the EWS.
“These certificates are meant only for applying for central government jobs and for getting admission in central government education institutions,” said Reddy in the circular dated July 9.
Reddy has also instructed the collectors to ignore the July 4 circular which instructed them to restrict the tahsildars from issuing such certificates.
