Police inspectors withdrawn from Pollem check-post duty

Police inspectors attached to the Pollem border check-post have been withdrawn, and they are replaced by a team of sub-inspectors and other police personnel to take appropriate measures against the spread of COVID-19.

Three police inspectors have been asked to report to duty at their original place of posting. 

According to available information, two sub-inspectors- Francisco Xavier and Prashant Bhagat, assistant sub- inspector Pradeep Rane, besides four head constables and four police constables have been posted on duty at the Pollem check-post.

The police at the check-post are focused on monitoring entries.  Apart from the check-post, a number of paths are also being watched over by the police, informed sources, adding, police patrolling has also been intensified in these areas.

According to the police, all travellers entering Goa by road are screened at the entry point using thermal scanner, and any symptomatic traveller is kept in isolation and tested.

Besides this, every vehicle is checked and in case of heavy vehicles not more than two drivers and cleaners are allowed, that too, after checking all the aspects.

According to the available information, teams headed by sub-inspectors posted at Pollem border have been directed to keep strict watch at the check-post in shifts. The executive magistrate also remains posted at the check-post everyday besides doctor and other staff.
