Surat Municipal Corporation’s headquarter comes under Covid-19 grip, three employees of secretariat branch test positive

SURAT: The Surat Municipal Corporation’s (SMC) headquarter in Mughalsarai has come under the grip of coronavirus infection after three employees of the secretariat branch were tested Covid-19 positive on Friday. The branch office located in the annexe building of the SMC has been shut and that other employees have been placed under home quarantine.
Sources said that three employees of the Secretariat branch of the SMC were tested positive for Covid-19 on Friday. The secretariat branch is the key branch in the SMC handling the documentation work of the civic body’s various departments including civic chief’s office, standing committee, Mayor, important committees of the SMC, ruling party office and the office of the opposition party etc.
Deputy municipal commissioner (health and hospital), Dr Ashish Naik, while confirming the three Covid-19 positive cases in the secretariat branch, told TOI, “Three employees of the secretariat branch have been tested Covid-19 positive and we have shut the branch for operations. The other employees are home quarantined and have been asked to work from home”
“The disinfection work of the entire branch office has been undertaken and that the close contacts of the employees are being traced” added Dr Naik.
