HISAR: Taking a u-turn on the Covid-19 status of mayor Gautam Sardana, the civil surgeon said he had tested negative and legal action would be taken against those who claimed that he was infected.
On July 6, deputy civil surgeon Dr Jaya Goyal told mediapersons that the mayor was among 29 Covid-19 patients detected in the region.
In a statement issued to the press on Thursday, civil surgeon Dr Ratna Bharti said mayor Gautam Sardana met MP Brijendra Singh when he visited
Hisar. It was stated that mayor Gautam Sardana and his family members gave samples which were found to be negative. However, he was placed under home quarantine by the health department as a precautionary measure.
The civil surgeon clarified that a businessman from Sector 14, who was involved in the public relations campaign of MP Brijendra Singh, tested positive, but he was shown as a contact of the mayor.
The civil surgeon said this was not the case and the mayor had actually tested negative. The civil surgeon also warned about legal action against those publishing or broadcasting news without official confirmation.
