Daily sports briefs | VAR woes and a grumpy Jose Mourinho, Manchester United's unique record, Tiger Woods is back, and a possible West Indies revival.

THE BIGGER FAILURE?: VAR OR JOSE MOURINHO?

This is a tough one with both showing their short-comings on the grand stage once again last night.
VAR?

Three penalties were awarded over the three games and VAR managed to get a perfect three out of three ... wrong! Fans will be scratching their heads wondering if there really is a warm human body in the VAR booth or if it's just a hoax. It is truly astounding how shockingly inept the VAR decision making has been. My pet dog during afternoon nap time is more alert than the VAR box.
OK how about the "Special One"?

Well he is getting paid £15 million to manage a team that was somehow unable to register a single shot on goal against a side that had had nine goals shipped against them in their last two games.

MYTWOCENTS VERDICT: At least VAR can be fixed next season ... Jose will never change. His ego and sour demeanour rub off on players. Daniel Levy has an expensive problem on his hands.

A POSITIVE MANCHESTER UNITED STAT TO MAKE UP FOR YESTERDAY

Yesterday we compared Manchester City's five-goals-in-a-game record to Manchester United's (27-2 since Sir Alex Ferguson's retirement) which was decidedly unfavourable to Red Devils fans. Today we make it up to you by giving you this: Manchester United last night became the first team in Premier League history to win four straight games by a three-goal margin or more.

MYTWOCENTS VERDICT: We have been saying recently that Man United are really starting to look the real deal with a goal threat potentially the best in the Premiership.

FOR THOSE OF YOU WONDERING WHAT HAPPENED TO TIGER ...

He is back.

Tiger Woods has been conspicuous in his absence from the PGA tour to date but on Thursday tweeted:

"I am looking forward to playing at the @MemorialGolf next week. I've missed going out and competing with the guys and can't wait to get back out there."

Woods hadn't swung a competitive golf club in anger since his charity four-ball event with Phil Mickelson, Tom Brady and Peyton Manning in May. Since he appeared to be in great shape, many were left wondering why the radio silence from Tiger re: his return?

MYTWOCENTS VERDICT: One tweet. That's all it took to get golf fans scrambling to clear their weekend in front of the TV next weekend. Tiger is a meticulous planner when it comes to scheduling as he constantly has to factor in the state of his dodgy back.

WINDIES REVIVAL TAKING SHAPE?

Another long-awaited revival appears to be taking place on the cricket pitch as the West Indies pace attack put England to the sword (all out for 204) in the first test in Southampton. Holder, Gabriel, Roach and Joseph have certainly not turned into Marshall, Garner, Walsh, Holding overnight but at least progress is being made for the former greats of cricket.

MYTWOCENTS VERDICT: It's early days but there has been talk of the West Indies finally putting together a talented team capable of competing with the best. England are missing Joe Root but it would be awesome for cricket to see the Windies pull this one off.

LAST WORD... don’t forget to tune in to Fight Island early Sunday am. Should be a cracker.
