Hardwick says Lynch could play less than a week after surgery

Richmond forward Tom Lynch is a chance to face Sydney Swans in Brisbane on Sunday - less than a week after having surgery to repair a broken hand.

Tigers coach Damien Hardwick revealed on Friday that Lynch had trained well that morning and boosted his chances of playing should his surgical wound hold strong.

"He did the vast majority [of training] which surprised us and exceeded expectations," Hardwick said on Friday.

"So he has gone from a doubtful to a probable to play on Sunday which is a great result for us.

"He's incredibly brave, a tough character and it will come down to the health of the wound. That will determine whether he plays or not."

Lynch kicked two of his three goals late in last Sunday's win over Melbourne and Hardwick said the injury had occurred in the opening minutes of the game yet Lynch had played despite it.

"The injury occurred in the first few minutes and to play without an injection shows the strength of the man," Hardwick said.

The Tigers flew Lynch to Brisbane after his surgery on Monday so he could avoid the border closures and that decision will prove inspired should he take his place in the side on Sunday.

Hardwick said the final side was yet to be confirmed by match committee so he couldn't confirm whether Riley Collier-Dawkins would make his debut or not.
