MUMBAI: A 20-year-old boy suffering from blood cancer committed suicide by hanging inside the King Edward Memorial hospital in Mumbai late Wednesday evening.
The deceased, identified as shah Janu Kharat, was a resident of Budhvihar in Chembur. The Bhoiwada police said that Kharat was suffering from blood cancer and hence he was admitted to Inlac hospital in Chembur on June 23 but as he was not keeping well. He was on July 2 shifted to KEM hospital for treatment. Police said that as mandatory, Kharat underwent a
Covid test that came negative on July 6.
"He was in ward no 20 and than shifted to cancer ward on July 7. On Wednesday night at around 9.30pm he was found hanging from the window of the ward. The doctors declared him," said a police officer.
Police added that Kharat’s father said that his son was under depression since he got to know about his blood cancer. The Bhoiwada police have registered an accidental death report (ADR).
