Jamshedpur: East Singhbhum deputy commissioner Ravi Shankar Shukla on Wednesday said surprise inspections will be carried out in Jamshedpur and elsewhere to catch denizens flouting the guidelines of Covid-19 at public places.
Shukla said police and civic official teams will randomly inspect various crowded spots such as marketplaces and shops. Besides, vendors running eateries on the roadsides and selling consumable items on the footpath will also be on the radar to ensure only those who have the permission to operate put up their makeshift shops.
“As part of the special drive, local police station in-charge and officials of the respective municipal office will conduct inspections of markets between 4pm and 9 pm in the evening every day to ensure that the rules are effectively being implemented,” the DC said and appealed to the people to not venture out of the house unnecessary.
On Wednesday, Shukla and East Singhbhum SSP M Tamil Vanan, chaired a joint meeting of police and civil officials to discuss and deliberate on the action plan to deal with the prevailing Covid-19 situation.
“We will have a camp jail to put in violators,” the SSP said adding people found guilty of violating the safety rules will face penal actions. Vanan added shops will be sealed if shopkeepers are found violating the norms of social distancing.
Till on Tuesday, the number of Covid-19 positive patients in the district stood at 584 of which, 318 recovered while 266 are still active.
