Ahmedabad: State Bank of India, Meghaninaga branch sealed

AHMEDABAD: The Ahmedabad Municipal Corporation has sealed State Bank of India Meghaninagar Branch for not following the social distancing norms. The AMC also declared eight more micro containment areas taking the total number to 156.
The decision to declare these areas was taken after a meeting chaired by Rajiv Gupta, additional chief secretary forest and environment who has been appointed as overall incharge of covid-19 activities in Ahmedabad and Municipal Commissioner Mukesh Kumar.
Gupta said that the government has declared the standard operating procedure (SOP) for the banks and offices to follow, but in the case of State Bank of India, Meghaninagar Branch it was revealed that the SOP was not followed and even the social distancing norm was also violated and hence the estate department sealed the premises.
He said that henceforth all the premises if they are found violating the SOP would be sealed by the estate department. He said that the government had laid down the SOP for office and even for calling staff.
Officials said that in many cases it was noticed that all the staff were called which did not follow the social distancing norm.
Meanwhile the city on Wednesday had 148 micro containment areas. The eight areas declared on Thursday include three floors each of Block A, B and C of Gurukul Park (Thaltej), three floors each of Block M and L in Indraprastha Tower (Thaltej) and Block D and F of Akshay Apartment, Chandlodia all three areas are in North West Zone.
The other five areas include A/2, Swaminarayan Park, Naroda in North zone, while two areas each in East zone are Ayojan Nagar ( Vinzol) and Saraf Ni Chali (Gomtipur). The other two areas in the South zone are Shreenath Heights (Lambha) and some houses in Hariom Society (Vatva).
Standing Committee chairman Amul Bhatt said that the micro containment areas were declared after the officials find three or more cases from that particular society. He said more containment zones was not a cause of worry as all the people in that particular area are thoroughly screened and if required timely treatment is also started.
