MUMBAI: A constable who turned 46 on June 1 and completed 21 years of service with
Mumbai Police on June 15 succumbed to
Covid-19 on Wednesday, 24 hours after he was admitted to Guru Nanak hospital in Bandra (E).
Kailash Dabhade, attached to Bhandup police station, was admitted for fever on June 6 with no comorbidities. He succumbed in ICU after his condition worsened at 1.27am.
Dabhade was on duty till June 3 but took leave for two days due to fever. "He was fit. He had a fever but did not show signs of uneasiness. His wife and two college-going children, a 20-year-old son and 18-year-old daughter, will be quarantined," said an officer.
With this, the toll in the city police force touched 44, and was 72 in
Maharashtra. The cops Covid-19 summary report showed cause for concern with 11 deaths being reported in 28 days from April 25 after the first death of a head police constable from Vakola police station was reported. Another 33 died in 46 days from May 23.
