Automotive aftermarket spending to decline 11% in FY21: Crisil Research
- The coronavirus pandemic-induced nationwide lockdown is expected to squeeze automotive aftermarket spending by 11 per cent this fiscal, a report has said.
- Based on the analysis of 75 mega districts in the country, which account for 43 per cent of the segment's total revenue, Crisil Research expects the annual running of vehicles (in kilometres) to decline, with three-wheelers likely to see the highest decline of 22 per cent and passenger vehicles and tractors seeing the lowest decline of 4 per cent during the fiscal.
HC stays Karnataka government's order banning online classes
- The Karnataka High Court has stayed the Karnataka government's order banning conduct of online classes by schools stating that banning it encroaches upon the Fundamental Right to Life and Education.
- The State government had passed orders on June 15 and 27 imposing a ban on conduct of online classes from LKG to Class X.
HCC reports consolidated net profit at Rs 311 cr for Mar quarter
Hindustan Construction Company (HCC) on Thursday reported a consolidated net profit of Rs 311.38 crore for the quarter ended March 31, 2020.

India's Yes Bank plans to raise up to $2 bn in share listing
- India's embattled Yes Bank, which was on the brink of collapse earlier this year, announced plans Thursday to raise up to 150 billion rupees ($2 billion) in a Mumbai stock listing.
- The country's fourth-largest lender was struggling with bad loans before the Reserve Bank of India took it over in March and drew up a rescue plan backed by eight other banks.

India's GDP to contract by 3 pc in FY21: BofA
- India's GDP will contract by 3 per cent in FY21 because of the coronavirus pandemic, assuming the economy is opened up fully from next month, a foreign brokerage said on Thursday.
- BofA Securities also said the RBI will monetise the fiscal deficit through purchase of government bonds of up to USD 95 billion through open market operations, and its revaluation reserves of USD 127 billion may also be used to recapitalise state-run banks.

Modi woos global cos with investment-friendly business environment
- Wooing global companies, Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Thursday said Asia's third-largest economy is one of the most open in the world and offers investment friendly, competitive business environment and immense opportunities.
- Speaking at the India Global Week 2020, he said green shoots of economic revival are already visible in India that is coming out of coronavirus lockdown.
- "India remains one of the most open economies in the world. We are laying a red carpet for all global companies to come and establish their presence in India. Very few countries will offer the kind of opportunities India does today," he said.

8 states account for 90 pc active coronavirus cases in India: GoM on COVID-19 informed
- Eight states, including Maharashtra, Tamil Nadu, Delhi, Karnataka and Telangana, account for around 90 per cent of the active COVID-19 cases in the country and 80 per cent of the active cases have been reported from 49 districts, the Group of Ministers (GoM) on COVID-19 was informed on Thursday.
- Besides, the GoM was told that six states -- Maharashtra, Delhi, Gujarat, Tamil Nadu, Uttar Pradesh and West Bengal -- account for 86 per cent of the deaths caused by COVID-19 and 32 districts account for 80 per cent of such fatalities, the Union health ministry said.

Gangster Vikas Dubey to be brought to UP on transit remand: Police
- After the arrest of gangster Vikas Dubey, wanted in connection with the Kanpur ambush in which eight policemen were killed, in Madhya Pradesh's Ujjain on Thursday, the Uttar Pradesh police said he would be brought to the state on transit remand.
- "Dubey will be brought to the state on transit remand. Our campaign against all those involved in the Kanpur case will continue till not even a single member of the Dubey gang is left," ADG, Law and Order Prashant Kumar said.
