JAMSHEDPUR: The district health department sanitised the Sidhgora police station on Wednesday a day after an illegal liquor trader in police custody tested positive for Covid-19.
The officer-in-charge of Sidhgora police station, Manoj Kumar, said he will consult his seniors regarding sealing the premises. All the on-duty police officials and their family members have been asked to remain in home quarantine and also undergo a Covid test, city SP Subash Chandra Jat said. The accused trader has been shifted to a hospital now.
The accused was arrested a few days ago and as per protocol, he had to undergo a virus test. When the result came out positive late on Tuesday night, the police station was immediately vacated.
Meanwhile, with a spike in Covid-19 cases in and around Jamshedpur, the district administration has instructed the hawkers in Sakchi market to shift to Aam Bagan Maidan area to ensure the maintenance of social distancing norms. The hawkers have been asked to wear masks and use sanitisers by the Jamshedpur Notified Area Committee.
