The Central Team led by Additional Secretary of Union Health Ministry Aarti Ahuja met the Tamil Nadu Health Minister Dr C Vijayabhaskar and senior officials in Chennai today. They discussed in detail various strategies being adopted to contain the spread of the Covid-19 disease in the state.

Besides Ms Aarti Ahuja, the team consists of the Union Department for Promotion of Industry and Internal Trade Joint Secretary Rajendra Ratnoo, who is nominated as the official in charge of monitoring the pandemic situation in Tamil Nadu by the Centre. The team also has doctors from the central medical research institution JIPMER in Pondicherry.

The team visited the Rajiv Gandhi General Hospital in Chennai, a designated Covid-19 treatment facility. The team members are expected to make a field visit to several other facilities and localities during their ongoing visit.
