The first Test of their three-match series between England and West Indies saw rains causing a stop-start-stop cricket. Stand-in captain Ben Stokes won the toss and opted to bat first at The Ageas Bowl in Southampton.
The hosts lost the opener, Dominic Sibley, for a duck early on and then steadily moved on to 35 for 1. The game however came to an end early with less than 18 overs played.
Rory Burns (20 runs off 55 balls) and Joe Denly (14 runs off 48 balls) will resume the England innings, while Alzarri Joseph has two deliveries in his 4th over to go.
While rains played a major block in the return of cricket after three months amid the coronavirus pandemic, will be a spoilsport on Day 2 as well?
Southampton weather on Day 2:
Weather forecasts show that there will be long dry spells on Day 2, even though clouds will make their presence felt. According to BBC reports, bad light could be a factor because of the thick clouds in the evening session.
So just for an estimation, there is no rain forecast for the first 5 hours of the day. Some thundershowers are expected later in the day.
As for the next four days, Southampton weather is a lot better. 98 overs will be bowled on each day for the rest of the Test.
