THANE:
Former chief minister and
opposition leader,
Devendra Fadnavis, blamed the
uncontrolled spike in
Covid cases on lack of coordination between the government and civic bodies. The
BJP leader, who was in Thane to review the situation, expressed concern at the rise in cases. The tally is now 10,999 with 268 new cases added on Monday, while 14 deaths have increased the toll to 397.
“The civic bodies are working independently with no support from the state as is evident in the poor budget allocation for health and infrastructure.
The volume of ICU beds and ventilators is scarce and the labs seem to be underutilised,” he said, adding private hospitals were milking the situation in the absence of a policy. “The testing numbers are very low in MMR. The administration needs to stop delaying reports and attend to symptomatic cases urgently.”
