Kerala Thiruvananthapuram lockdown, coronavirus updates: Over 1.80 lakh are under home quarantine as cases surge

Kerala coronavirus, Thiruvananthapuram triple-lockdown update: Kerala has recorded 193 new Coronavirus cases even as triple lockdown is on in the state capital Thiruvananthapuram. With the increase of 193 coronavirus new cases, the total COVID-19 in the southern state has reached 5,622, Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan said. Out of total coronavirus cases reported in Kerala in the last 24 hours, Malappuram has reported 35 cases, Pathanamthitta 26 cases, Ernakulam 25, Alappuzha 15, Kozhikode 15, Thrissur 14, Kollam 11 and Kannur 11, Palakkad 8, Wayanad 8, Thiruvananthapuram 7, Kottayam 6 case, Idukki 6 cases, and Kasaragod 6 positive coronavirus cases.

In Kerala, 1,83,291 persons are placed under surveillance, out of which 1,80,316 are under home or institutional quarantine and 2975 are admitted in designated isolation facilities.

Meanwhile, the Kerala government has decided to cancel daily travel passes of commuters to Karnataka’s Mangaluru after coronavirus cases have started rising in the district.

Kerala Home quarantine rules, guidelines

Kerala has also issued Home quarantine Advisory. The advisory says everyone who comes from other states should be subjected to a medical examination and those with symptoms of the disease are to be hospitalized for further examination and treatment. They are to be kept in observation until RT-PCR results become negative, after which they may be sent home for completing 14 days of quarantine. Those who do not show any symptoms during medical examination may be sent for home quarantine for a period of 14 days. If they turn symptomatic while on home quarantine, they must be followed up and send for further examination and RT-PCR testing.

Kerala Coronavirus COVID19 advisory

Kerala government has asked people to do frequent hand washing with soap and water and avoid social greetings by touching, hugging or handshaking. It has asked people not to touch your face, nose and eyes. The state government has asked people to use handkerchief while coughing/ sneezing. It is advisable for all to use masks during the COVID 19 pandemic season. N95 masks should not be worn by the public. Kerala Lockdown rules, What’s allowed, What’s not in Thiruvananthapuram

As per the lockdown guidelines issued by the Kerala government, public movement, except for essential purposes, has been restricted. All roads except the main one leading to the city have been closed. Police have stepped up vigilance. People, who are going out, must carry signed declaration forms with them. The police and volunteers will provide doorstep delivery of essential services. The state government has issued helpline numbers for this. Exams in all educational institutions have been cancelled.

All government offices in Thiruvananthapuram city is closed and will remain so for the next week. Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan is likely to hold meetings and discharge his duties at his official Cliff House residence in the capital city.

Medical shops, hospitals, banks, ATMs, petrol pumps, cooking gas agencies, and grocery and vegetable shops are allowed to operate. The movement of passengers from airports and railway stations is allowed with safety precautions in place. Vehicles carrying essential supplies are allowed to ply.

Water supply, sanitation, electricity workers, those employed with mobile service shops, data entry operators, and journalists are allowed to commute through containment zones.

Kerala Coronavirus COVID19 guidelines

Kerala government has issued COVID-19 guidelines effective for one till July 2021. As per the new regulations known as ‘Kerala Epidemic Disease Corona Virus Disease (COVID-19) Additional Regulations, 2020’, wearing masks and maintaining physical distancing of six feet is essential. Spitting in public has been prohibited.
Attendance in marriage functions and funerals has been restricted to 50 and 20 respectively. The use of masks and sanitizers is mandatory in these ceremonies. To dharnas, congregations, get-togethers, organizers need to seek permission from authorities. The maximum attendance of people should be 10 persons.
