Jaipur to get another park on 52-acre plot in Mansarovar

UDH minister Shanti Dhariwal inspects the project on Monday
JAIPUR: Residents of Pink City will soon get another park as big as the Central Park. The Rajasthan Housing Board (RHB) is all set to develop the new park on around 52 acres in Mansarovar area, which is expected to benefit more than 50 colonies developed there.
On Monday, the urban development and housing (UDH) minister, Shanti Dhariwal, inspected the project. “The track of the park will be developed as per the Sports Authority of India (SAI) guidelines. The park will add to the quality of life of the residents,” the minister said.
The board plans to plant 21,000 trees of 32 different species in the area. The jogging track will be 3.5 km long, slightly shorter than Central Park. However, the size of the park is claimed to be bigger the Central Park, which is 42 acres.
RHB commissioner Pawan Arora said, “Around 75% area of the earmarked land will be developed as green. The project has parking for 799 cars and 325 twowheelers. The main entrance plaza of the park will be constructed at Madhyam Marg end. The park will have three other gates, which will open on Aravali Marg, VT Road and New Sanganer Road.”
As per the fixed deadline, the horticulture work will be completed in three years, while jogging track development will take one year.
An official said, “As the city is expanding, such parks are required and proper segmentation in different zones will reduce travel time to use such facilities. Moreover, it will increase the green cover in the Pink City, which is falling short of the mandatory 20% according to the Master Plan 2025.”
Commissioner Arora said that they are targeting green cover in major portion of the park.
