HYDERABAD: A soldier, Saligam Srinivas from Peddapalli in Telangana posted in Baramulla, Kashmir committed suicide on Monday. He shot himself while on duty. The 28-year-old jawan , joined the Army in 2013. He is survived by his parents, brother and wife. His father is a shepherd and brother is a mason.
Family said that his wife was pregnant. He got married two years ago. The body is expected to arrive on Tuesday. Srinivas of 226 field unit was posted in Boniyar Uri in Baramulla.
A pall of gloom descended in the village as they got to know about the death of Srinivas. The wife and parents of Srinivas are yet to be informed of the death.
They have only been informed that they Srinivas had suffered injuries and was admitted to a hospital.
"We will tell them about the death tomorrow," the wife's brother, Mahesh said.
