NEW DELHI: The
Mumbai Police is leaving no stone unturned in investigating the professional rivalry angle in Bollywood actor
Sushant Singh Rajput's death. The 34-year-old actor was found hanging at his suburban
Bandra residence on June 14.
A day after
Sanjay Leela Bhansali appeared at the Bandra station on Monday, Abhishek Trimukhe, DCP (Zone IX), Mumbai Police, shed some light on the director's recorded statement. The official told news agency ANI on Tuesday that the film-maker had approached him for four films, but the roles were offered to other actors due to unavailability of his dates.
In the recorded statement, Bhansali clarified that he wanted to cast the late actor in four of his films. "During questioning, it came to light that Rajput was not able to work with Bhansali as his dates were not available," said a senior police officer probing the case.
The police are probing why Rajput was not able to do films with Bhansali and are examining his contracts with other production houses. So far, 34 people have recorded statements, including Rajputs family members, close friends and colleagues.
Trimukhe further informed that cops have taken the CCTV recordings of Rajput's apartment building into custody for investigation. "No CCTVs installed in Rajput's house. Forensic reports are awaited," he stated.
The police are also waiting for a response from
Twitter on the alleged tweets posted from Rajputs micro- blogging handle and circulated on social media just before his death. "Mumbai Police is investigating into all important details about this case. Mumbai Police is awaiting response from Nodal of Twitter, about the alleged tweets circulated on social media from SSR handle," Trimukhe added.
The police earlier sent viscera from the actor's body, and the gown which he allegedly used to hang himself for chemical and
forensic analysis at
the Forensic Science Laboratory (FSL) in suburban Kalina. The forensic lab report is awaited, the official said.
