Delhi Police arrested a nurse of All India Institute of Medical Sciences (AIIMS) here from Vijayawada in Andhra Pradesh for allegedly cheating her for Rs 34 lakh.


South Delhi Deputy Commissioner of Police Atul Thakur said on Tuesday that a woman working as a nursing officer at AIIMS lodged a complaint in this regard on March 5 at Mehrauli police station. The woman said in the complaint that on July 1, 2018, a friend named Mohammad Sadiq Imran came on Facebook, which he accepted. A few days later Imran talked about marrying the girl and took Leh-Ladakh to roam.

He told that after winning the trust of the girl, according to the complaint, the accused talked about doing business of the hotel before marriage and for this he got the girl transferred Rs 33,92,201 to her bank account. The officer said that after taking all the money of the girl into her account, the accused clipped the girl's phone after which the girl realized that she had been cheated.

He said that the police investigated the matter seriously and arrested the accused Imran from Vijayawada. After presenting him in Vijayawada court, he was brought to Delhi on transit remand and produced before a magistrate in Saket court yesterday. The accused is currently in police custody and is being questioned.
