Covid-19: Gujarat records 778 positive cases, 17 deaths in 24 hours

AHMEDABAD: In 24 hours ending 5pm on Tuesday, Gujarat recorded 778 Covid-19 positive cases, taking the total to 37,686. Since July 1, Gujarat has recorded a new highest daily Covid-19 positive cases, recording 15% rise.
The state also recorded deaths of 17 Covid-19 positive patients in 24 hours, taking the toll to 1979. The deaths included five from Ahmedabad, three from Surat, two from Jamnagar and one each from Devbhoomi Dwarka, Banaskantha, Morbi, Patan, Kheda, Rajkot and Gandhinagar. It’s the highest number of districts (10) recording deaths in a single day since July 1.
It was the fourth consecutive day for Surat to record the highest daily positive cases. Surat in 24 hours recorded 249 cases, followed by 187 from Ahmedabad and 68 from Vadodara.
As of Tuesday evening, Gujarat has 23.7% active cases (8,913) whereas the share of discharged and deceased patients in the state is 71% and 5.3% respectively.
A total of 421 patients got discharged in 24 hours, taking the total to 26,744. The discharges include 124 from Ahmedabad, 76 from Surat, 42 from Vadodara, 33 from Bhavnagar and 14 from Valsad.
Gujarat carried out 7,366 tests to find new Covid-19 positive cases, taking the total to 4.25 lakh. As on Tuesday evening, Gujarat has 2.77 lakh persons under quarantine including 2.73 lakh under home quarantine.
