NEW DELHI: 23 Indian Institutes of Technology (IITs) have collectively distanced themselves from the IIT Alumni Council, which was in the news recently for announcing plans for a MegaLab for Covid testing and for declaring it would eliminate Chinese systems and software from all its initiatives with immediate effect. The statement signed by the directors of all the IITs said that the Councilis not at liberty to associate any IIT or its logo with any of its activities. Dissociating themselves from the IIT Alumni Council, The statement reads: “The recently formed IIT Alumni Council is one such example of an independent group of alumni of the IITs and possibly others as well, which is engaged in various activities of their interest. Unless expressly indicated for specific projects, the IITs have no role to play in their efforts or in their organisation.
