Haryana minister orders FIR against Gurugram lab for reporting Covid-19 negative cases as positive ones

AMBALA: Haryana cabinet minister Anil Vij on Monday instructed the health department to lodge a police complaint against Gurugram-based SRL Lab which had in the recent past reported negative cases of Covid-19 as positive ones in Ambala as well as some other districts of the state.
The matter came to the light after some tests, which were reported Covid-19 positive by the lab had reported negative within 24 hours from government labs in April this year.
A departmental enquiry in this regard was marked by Vij which was to be conducted by the civil surgeons of the districts, where such negative cases were reported as positive ones.
The enquiry was completed by the concerned officials and its report was sent to Vij for further action.
On Monday, Anil Vij told media, “We received a complaint against SRL Lab and a departmental enquiry was conducted and the lab’s reports related to Covid were found false. The samples which the lab claimed to be positive were found to be negative in tests conducted at other labs. Therefore, instructions have been issued to lodge an FIR against this lab.”
Ambala civil surgeon Dr Kuldeep Singh said, “The state health department had sought a report into the functioning of SRL Lab. We had completed the enquiry and submitted the report while highlighting the flaws in the functioning of SRL Lab.”
