Charity Commissioner asks Karni Sena to submit audit reports

The Charity Commissioner has sought to rein in the Karni Sena by seeking its audit reports from its trustees and observed that it is indulging in activities other than its causes listed while registering as a trust.

The officer has also ordered all assistant charity commissioners in all districts across the state to identify such trusts and take action against them, including filing criminal complaints.

“The Karni Sena is indulging in activities other than the causes shown in the trust deed and it has not even submitted its audited reports. It is high time action is taken against such trusts. I have called for audit reports from the Shree Karni Sena Charitable Trust based at Nava Naroda,” said Y M Shukla, the charity commissioner while talking to Mirror.

Meanwhile Rajendra Singh Shekhavat of Karni Sena said, “The office of the Charity Commissioner has sought report not only from us, but also other trusts. We will submit it as per the law.


We are doing the work for the cause of people and seek justice on various issues that should be appreciated. We are not involved in any illegal activities.” The Karni Sena was established to uphold the pride of the Rajput caste. They were at the forefront of registering their protest over the movie Padmavat.

Acommunique from the charity commissioner stated, “Numerous persons have applied for registering trusts in last three to four years. However, it has come to our notice that few of them are acting against their causes with ulterior motives. They indulge in such activities to give memorandums to the government officials in a bid to threaten them and there is a need to act against these trusts.”
