FALL RIVER -- Planet Fitness locations in Fall River and Somerset are among 75 locations in the state that the Newington, New Hampshire-based fitness brand is reopening today.

Gyms are allowed to reopen now that the state has entered Phase 3 of its reopening guidelines.

In a press release Monday, Planet Fitness said it has strengthened its cleanliness policies and procedures in an effort to protects its customers and employees from COVID-19 infection.

Steps include employee training and daily temperature checks, increased disinfecting and cleaning and increased sanitazation stations throught the gym floor. Gym members will be asked to wipe down equipment before and after use.

And anyone interested in working out there will have to wear a mask.

"Masks or face coverings will be required for members at all times, except when partaking in strenuous cardio exercise and positioned at a distance of 14 feet from others," the press release states.

Also, Planet Fitness centers will be open under 40% capacity, the company said.
