Covid-19: Number of cases falls in Navi Mumbai, surges in Panvel

NAVI MUMBAI: The last fortnight has seen a mixed trend of Covid-19 cases in the city. While number of cases slowed down in the first week of this month in NMMC civic area, a surge in coronavirus cases has been reported in Panvel as compared to the last week of June, when cases spiked in both civic areas.
NMMC's Covid-19 tally reached 8,072 on Tuesday with 115 fresh cases. The total in the first week of July was 1,467 compared to 1,533 in the last week of June. NMMC has undertaken a mammoth exercise of
screening over one lakh population in 10 containment zones results of which are awaited.
On the other hand, Panvel has added more than 50% of the total cases in the last fortnight with its Covid tally reaching 3,072 on Tuesday. In the first week of July, the Panvel civic area had reported 931 patients against 716 cases in the last week of June. There were 90 fresh cases on Tuesday .
