National Webinar on Intellectual Property Rights and Electronic Resources held in Jorhat College

GUWAHATI: A national webinar titled 'Intellectual Property Rights and Electronic Resources’ was jointly organized by IPR (Intellectual Property Rights) Cell of Jorhat College (Amal.) and IQAC (Internal Quality Assurance Cell) of the college in collaboration with the LISPA (Library and Information Science Professionals of Assam) amidst the Covid restrictions in Jorhat. Over 600 participants from across the country and abroad took part in the recently held national webinar.
Dr. Akhtar Parvez, university librarian at Moulna Azad National Urdu University, Hyderabad, the resource person of the first session gave a thorough introduction to the intellectual property rights with references from the field of academia and concrete instances of infringements of such rights and their legal consequences. In the second session, Dr. Maltesh Motebennur, former university librarian of Rajiv Gandhi University, Arunachal Pradesh talked on the importance of electronic resources, preservation of electronic resources in the libraries, digitization of religious manuscripts and rare books.
At the very outset of the national-level webinar, Dr. Devabrata Sharma, the principal of the Jorhat College inaugurated the event, where Dr. Soumitra Puzari, co-ordinator of IQAC gave the welcome speech. The sessions were moderated by Dr. Diganta Kr. Phukan, co-ordinator of the national webinar and Suraj Gogoi, co-ordinatior of LISPA, Assam. Subhrajyoti Chanda offered the vote of thanks.
