BOSTON --- Eduardo Rodriguez and Bobby Dalbec have both tested positive for coronavirus.

Red Sox manager Ron Roenicke confirmed the test results Tuesday. Dalbec is asymptomatic.

Both players remain at home and have yet to report to Fenway Park for Summer Camp. Roenicke said he’s hopeful Rodriguez would still be ready for the July 24 opener against the Orioles, but it’s not a guarantee at this point.

Rodriguez enjoyed a breakout 2019 season. The left-hander eclipsed 200 innings pitched and 200 strikeouts for the first time in his career. He was likely to front the Boston rotation after an offseason that saw Chris Sale (left elbow) undergo Tommy John surgery and David Price traded to the Dodgers.

Dalbec possesses arguably the top power bat in the Boston system. He cracked 27 home runs across two levels last season and reached Triple-A Pawtucket for the first time. Dalbec was one of three top prospects named in the 60-man player pool alongside infielder C.J. Chatham and catcher Connor Wong.

The Red Sox are up to four confirmed positive tests in their player pool. Left-handed relief pitchers Darwinzon Hernandez and Josh Taylor are also away from the team after testing positive. Hernandez remains at home while Taylor is isolated in a Boston hotel room after reporting for the intake process last week.

Boston pitchers have thrown live batting practice over each of the last four days of workouts. Nathan Eovaldi, Martin Perez, Ryan Weber and Brian Johnson served as the starters for each session, working multiple innings. Eovaldi and Weber in particular stood out, and Roenicke said he’d like to use just one opener during each five-man turn through the rotation.

….More to come.
