Rahul skips defence panel meets, questions troops’ valour: BJP

NEW DELHI: BJP chief J P Nadda on Monday accused Congress’s Rahul Gandhi of not attending meetings of the standing committee on defence and said he was instead criticising the government and demoralising the armed forces. “Rahul Gandhi does not attend a single meeting of the standing committee on defence.
But sadly, he continues to demoralise the nation, question the valour of our armed forces and do everything that a responsible opposition leader should not do,” Nadda tweeted, reacting to Rahul’s continued attacks on the government over the Ladakh situation.
“Gandhi belongs to that glorious dynastic tradition where as far as defence is concerned, committees don’t matter, only commissions do,” Nadda said. Continuing with the party’s bid to “isolate” the Gandhi scion in his own party, the BJP chief said there were several deserving people in Congress who would have done better in the parliamentary committee.
Countering Nadda’s remarks, Congress spokesman Pawan Khera said, “BJP is rattled because its foreign policy and its strategy of headline management stands exposed. People have realised BJP’s failure.
