Bus carrying migrant labourers from Yamunanagar to Bihar turns over in Kurukshetra, 29 injured

KURUKSHETRA: A private bus carrying migrant labourers from Yamunanagar to Muzaffarpur district in Bihar state lost control and turned over near Barshami village in Ladwa police station area of Kurukshetra district on Monday late evening, and 29 persons got injured in the accident, said the police.
The identities of the injured persons could not be established as the Kurukshetra police were still recording their statements and conducting the rescue operation, told the police.
As per the information the accident took place on Yamunanagar-Kurukshetra state highway (SH) 6 near Barshami village after the driver lost control at a speed breaker.
On receiving the information, the Kurukshetra police reached the spot and started the rescue operation.
Ladwa police station house officer (SHO) inspector Rajpal said, "In a road accident a private bus bearing registration number of Rajasthan state turned over near Barshami village and 29 migrant labourers got injured. Out of them 4-5 are seriously injured while the rest have received minor injuries. Those injured were rushed to the hospital where they are being treated for their injuries. So far, no casualty has been reported in this accident."
To a query, SHO Ladwa said, "As per the preliminary investigation, the bus was on its way to Muzaffarpur, Bihar and we suspect that the driver was overspeeding. When it reached near Barshami village, it lost control at a speed breaker and turned over in a field on the roadside."
"So far, the number of actual passengers in the bus is not clear and there were women, children and men on the bus. We are recording their statements and they are being identified. We are clearing the road and investigating the case", said SHO Ladwa.
As per sources, the bus was also overloaded and the bus driver and conductor charged an amount of Rs 2,100 per head for ferrying the migrant labourers to their native state Bihar.
