Even as no fresh COVID positive cases were reported at Camarabhat in Taleigao, the throat swab sample collection is continuing in the area, as there are nearly 700 people residing in Camarabhat.

According to sources, as the locality is sealed, many residents of the area are facing hardships with women working as maids asked by their employers not to attend duty until the area is de-sealed.

Speaking to this daily, Panaji Mayor Uday Madkaikar said though no fresh cases has been detected in the area after the seven COVID positive cases reported earlier, Camarabhat will continue to remain sealed till the end of this week. He said a decision will later be taken on de-sealing the locality.

Madkaikar said presently the health officials are collecting the throat swab samples in phases and everybody in the area will be tested. “Even the Corporation of the City of Panaji (CCP) has

provided leave and urged all the CCP workers from Camarabhat not to attend duty till they complete the period of at least 14 days of quarantine,” he said.

Local MLA and Revenue Minister Jennifer Monserrate is monitoring the area and arrangements have been made to distribute the essential commodities to the residents of the area.
