Haryana cabinet gives go-ahead to bifurcation of Panchkula Municipal Corporation

CHANDIGARH: The Haryana cabinet on Monday gave the go-ahead to bifurcation of Panchkula Municipal Corporation by creating Kalka Municipal Council. Now Kalka Municipal Council will have Kalka and Pinjore under its jurisdiction.
A proposal concerning this has been brought in the cabinet meeting chaired by CM Manohar Lal Khattar at Haryana civil secretariat. Bifurcation of PMC and separation of Panchkula and Kalka were the poll promises of the BJP as well.
Even the former MLA Latika Sharma and Urban local bodies minister Anil Vij has given a go-ahead to it and were waiting for the cabinet nod.
The other issue which was related to Urban local bodies was of policy for allotting the land falling under the civic bodies. Now, there would not be any freebies for religious or NGOs for the allotment of land.
The municipal land would be allotted on the basis of the prevailing collector rate of the area and the allottees will have to bear the expenses like a common buyer.
