We've heard rumours in the past of Xiaomi working on a 120W charger for its upcoming phones, and now, we have new proof that again hints at the same. This charger from Xiaomi which is rated at 120W has been spotted passing through China's 3C certification. While there have been reports about this charger being under development before, the fact that it has now received the 3C certification means that it is possibly close to commercial launch.

Interestingly, the news of the charger's launch comes almost a year after Xiaomi showcased its 100W Super Charge Turbo fast-charging technology in March 2019. In a demo video, Xiaomi had previously shown how fast the 100W charging technology chargers phone with 4000mAh battery. The company claims that the 100W supercharge turbo tech takes around 17 min to fully charge a 4,000mAh battery smartphone. For instance, Xiaomi's fast charging technology will be able to charge phones like Redmi Note 8, Redmi Note 7 series, Redmi K20 series in under 20 min.

Xiaomi has previously explained that the 100W supercharge turbo tech comes with a high-voltage charge pump bundled with 9-fold charge protection. The company further says that the out of the 9-fold protection, 7 are for the motherboard while the 2-fold protection is for the battery. Now it is being said the 120W charger could be used for the commercial roll-out of the 100W supercharge turbo tech with a new smartphone in the coming months or even weeks.

While we're not sure about the phone that this charger will launch with, reports have in the past shown the design and features of the 120W charger. This charger had allegedly been leaked in a video a few weeks ago, with the charger being shown to feature a cuboid shape along with a USB Type-A port.

The video also showed the charger to bring charging pings on the opposite end of the USB port. This leaked video had also shared some details about the charging speeds, power outputs that the 120W charger will support. With the charger now receiving 3C certifications, it could only be a matter of weeks before we get to see it as a final product.
