Covid-19: Ludhiana has 9 micro, 2 containment zones

LUDHIANA: Under Mission Fateh of the Punjab government and to check the spread of Covid-19, authorities have declared two containment and nine micro-containment zones in the district.
The two containment zones include Habib Ganj, Sainsi Mohalla and Islam Ganj cluster and Ashok Nagar (from street number 1, 2, 3 till Khajoor Chowk).
All these areas have been sealed and the departments concerned have been directed to take necessary action. Deputy commissioner Varinder Sharma on Monday said the micro-containment zones include Samrat Colony in Giaspura, New Kartar Nagar in Salem Tabri, Basant Avenue Phase 2 Dugri, Guru Harkrishan Nagar in Giaspura, Ram Nagar Street Number 21 behind Sangeet Cinema in Vishwakarma Colony, Rajiv Gandhi Colony in Focal Point, Labour Colony on Gaushala Road, Sun City on Amloh Road in Khanna and Field Ganj.
All these areas have also been sealed. Sharma said as per the directions of the health department, a district-level committee, comprising MC additional commissioner Sanyam Aggarwal, civil surgeon Dr Rajesh Kumar Bagga, district epidemiologist Dr Ramesh Kumar and medical college head Dr Clarence Samual, has been set up and on its recommendation such zone would be declared.
