Coronavirus in Coimbatore: Selvapuram becomes Covid-19 cluster

COIMBATORE: Around 105 people in Coimbatore’s Selvapuram area have tested positive for Covid-19, said health department officials on Monday. Most of the cases are asymptomatic.
The index patient for the cluster and source of infection were yet to be identified.
Officials are planning to move them into the Codissia Covid care centre on Monday evening. This will be the first batch of patients to be moved to this centre.
ESI Hospital is housing close to 350 patients.
Health department officials were testing all bus drivers and conductors who frequent Ukkadam bus stand, after one of the drivers tested positive for the virus on Sunday.
The state government has officially declared 741 cases in the district. However, the district administration on Sunday evening said there were 850 cases. The 105 cases in Selvapuram will take the count to 950.
