Elon Musk is now selling Tesla shorts
Can Elon Musk sell anything? Does he -- or Tesla for that matter -- have that kind of ‘cult’ where products launched for ‘random’ reasons can also be lapped up? Well, it looks look, he can. Musk pulled a surprise on one and all by announcing Tesla Short shorts. These are limited edition shorts under the Tesla brand and they spell “S3XY” at the back. Apart from the obvious interpretation, each letter refers to the electric car models that Tesla has manufactured, namely Model S, Model 3, Model X and Model Y. It’s a Tesla ‘product’ and it doesn’t come cheap. Tesla Short shorts are priced at $69.420. Yes, Musk did get the 420 in pricing and announced the limited-edition shorts via his Twitter handle.

The Short shorts come in only one colour variant: Red. Towards the front, there is a small Tesla logo. The launch of such a weird and unexpected one but the product has sold like hot cakes. Musk implied on Twitter that he was taken aback by the sheer interest in the shorts. He tweeted, “Dang! We broke the website”. However, the website seems to be working fine and last we checked, the shorts had sold out across all the sizes except the XL.

Here is what the product description says on the webpage: “Celebrate summer with Tesla Short Shorts. Run like the wind or entertain like Liberace with our red satin and gold trim design. Relax poolside or lounge indoors year-round with our limited-edition Tesla Short Shorts, featuring our signature Tesla logo in front with “S3XY” across the back. Enjoy exceptional comfort from the closing bell.”

Tesla caps, flamethrowers, t-shirts are some of the other ‘random’ products that Musk has launched either under the Tesla or SpaceX branding.
