BATHINDA: A Special Investigations Team (SIT) has named Dera Sacha Sauda head Gurmeet Ram Rahim in the case of the theft of Bir of Guru Granth Sahib from Gurdwara Burj Jawahar Singh wala on June 1, 2015, while filing the challan of the case in the court on Monday. The SIT will approach the court praying for the production warrant of Ram Rahim, who presently is lodged in Sunaria Jail Rohtak in Haryana in rape case of Sadhvis(female disciples). The SIT also has nominated three more ardent dera followers Harsh Dhuri, Sandeep Bareta and Pardeep Kaler. The SIT also moved an application for issuance of the arrest warrants of the three, who have been nominated in the case along with dera head. Earlier the SIT headed byu DIG Ranbir Singh Khattra on Monday filed challan in the case against 11 persons which include 5 persons arrested on Saturday, two who got default bail on Saturday and four persons nominated now including Gurmeet Ram Rahim, Harsh, Sandeep and Pardeep.
A score of Sikh organisations had been demanding to arrest Ram Rahim and interrogate him in the sacrileges cases. Ram Rahim had been on the radar of the Sikhs after he had appeared in robes similar to 10th Sikh master Guru Gobind Singh in 2007 at dera branch Salabatpura in Bathinda. It is said as Ram Rahim’ film Messenger of God was not being released, a conspiracy was hatched for sacrilege.
SIT head DIG Ranbir Singh Khattra told that during the investigations of five arrested persons in last two days, it came out that dera head and three others, who were members of the decision body of the dera, are involved in the conspiracy behind acts of sacrilege as they had been in touch with these persons and had regularly been giving instructions to proceed further to steal Bir and indulge in cases of sacrilege”.
Earlier having resumed investigations into three cases of the theft of Bir of Guru Granth Sahib on June 1, 2015, putting up derogatory posters and sacrilege, presented the 5 arrested persons, Randeep Singh, Ranjit Singh, Baljit Singh, Nishan Singh and Narinder Kumar in the court of Faridkot duty magistrate Chetan Sharma upon expiry of their two days police remand. The court ordered to send them in judicial custody. The SIT though had arrested 7 persons on Saturday in the case of theft of Bir from Gurdwara of village Burj Jawahar Singh Wala but as the defence counsel apprised the court that two persons Sukhjinder Singh and Shakti Singh are already in bail in the case while CBI was investigating the case, the court had ordered them to be released.
Earlier in the day Sarbat Khala appointed Jathedar Dhian Singh Mand had served an ultimatum to solve the sacrilege cases in two months or he will restart the morcha for justice from September 6 from Takhat Damdama Sahib.
