J P Morgan to facilitate additional cash transfers to covid hit women in retail sector

MUMBAI: Supplementing the government initiatives, J P Morgan, Morgan as a part of its CSR initiative in India facilitated women employees in the retail sector whose livelihoods have been impacted as a result of the Covid-19 crisis.

In partnership with TRRAIN, a not for profit organisation, J P Morgan has launched a rapid response program with the aim to assist 3000 COVID-19 impacted women employees in the retail sector.

The program will support women in Mumbai, Delhi and Bangalore who have lost jobs or income and provide immediate relief in the form of an income bridge for three months until they can seek alternative employment.

TRRAIN has also partnered with Haqdarshak, a technology platform that connects citizens with their eligible schemes, to link beneficiaries and their families to appropriate government schemes.

Under the program TRRAIN will make an electronic cash transfer to those women who have lost their income so that they are able to meet their basic requirement until they can find a job. The choice of cash transfer was made so that these beneficiaries have flexibility to use the money based on individual priorities, according to JP Morgan officials.
