Representative imageSHIMLA: Senior citizens in Himachal Pradesh have a reason to cheer as the state government has initiated the process to set up 100 Panchvati parks and gardens to create recreational space for the elderly in all the 78 blocks of the state. These parks will be designed keeping the elderly citizens in mind to improve their fitness and wellbeing.
The Panchwati scheme, notified by the rural development department, was recently launched by chief minister Jai Ram Thakur. Sites have been identified for construction of these parks in development blocks, including Gohar in Mandi district, Bangana in Una, Banjar and Naggar in Kullu, Kaza in Lahaul-Spiti, Nagrota Bagwan and Sulah in Kangra, Paonta Sahib in Sirmaur, Tissa and Bhatiyat in Chamba, Kalpa in Kinnaur, Kandaghat in Solan, Rohru in Shimla and Nadaun in Hamirpur district.
