Representational ImageBALASORE: A BJP MLA in the state has tested positive for Covid-19 infection.
Three days ago, the MLA developed flu-like symptoms. The doctors suggested him to undergo Covid-19 test. The legislator has been admitted to a Covid hospital at Balasore for treatment, said Nilagiri sub-collector Harish Chandra Jena.
The members of the MLAs family and his close aides have been asked to remain in home quarantine after their swab samples tested negative for the disease, Jena added.
Contact tracing shall be done to collect samples of people who had come in direct contact with the infected person, he added.
All government office premises where the MLA had visited are to be identified and sanitised shortly, he added.
The MLA said that he had attended a number of meetings in Bhubaneswar on July 2. Moreover, he had conducted a meeting with the women self-help groups (SHGs) and attended several meetings at his constituency. He had also visited several government offices at Nilagiri and Balasore.
On Friday, he attended the condolence meeting of Balasore MLA Madan Mohan Dutta who had died recently.
