Friends of Police (FOP) were banned in nine districts including Thoothukudi and Madurai in Tamil Nadu on Sunday.
This comes following a report which suspected that Friends of Police might have a role in the custodial deaths of Jayaraj and his son Bennicks.
CB-CID IG Shankar also said that they would be investigating the Friends of Police who were on duty on the day of the incident in the Sathankulam Police Station.
SP Jayakumar banned FOP in Thoothukudi. It was also banned in Madurai.
Earlier, DIG Ani Vijaya had banned FOP in Trichy, Dindigul, Ariyalur, Karur, Perambalur and Pudukottai, temporarily.
Moreover, in Vilupuram, SP Radhakrishnan had announced that Friends of Police would be used only for social work.
