PATNA: Three persons from Supaul district were arrested at Patna airport on Saturday for allegedly trying to fly to Delhi on fake identity cards. One of them is a tout.
The matter surfaced when CISF personnel asked their names and two of them told their names different from what was mentioned in the Aadhaar cards shown by them. The three were handed over to Airport police station where an FIR was registered on the written complaint by a CISF inspector.
Airport police station SHO Arun Kumar said the arrested persons were identified as Abdul Samad (34), his uncle Abu Khan (50) and one Kundal Kumar (22). He said all three were natives of Parsa village in Supaul and were going to Himachal Pradesh for working as daily wagers. Kumar said Abu and Kundal were to fly for the first time.
“Abdul, the tout, was taking eight villagers to Himachal Pradesh via Delhi from Patna airport. He had booked nine air tickets, including one for himself. However, two co-villagers whom he had convinced to travel, backed out at the last moment,” he said.
The SHO said Abdul didn’t get tickets cancelled thinking it would be financial loss for him and instead convinced his uncle Abu and Kundal to travel. “He took Aadhaar cards from the two villagers who had refused to travel and photographs from Abu and Kundal. He scanned both the identity cards and fixed photographs of Abu and Kundal on them for use at Patna airport,” SHO said.
He said Abdul handed over the fake identity cards to Abu and Kundal and asked them to show if the security personnel asked for. “Abu and Kundal showed fake Aadhaar cards but instead told their actual names when asked by the CISF personnel. When quizzed, they revealed the facts,” the SHO said.
This is the second such incident in a month that flyers were caught using forged identity cards for travelling. On June 18, six persons from Begusarai were arrested at the airport and three of them were trying to fly to Mumbai on fake documents.
