Morris brothers set to make call on whether to play on in 2021
They may be two of the form players of the NRL, but both Brett and Josh Morris will decide whether to play on in 2021 in the next six weeks.
The twins are playing some of the best football of their careers at the age of 33. They are also both on cut-price contracts worth less than $300,000 per season with the Roosters, making the salary cap logistics relatively simple if they do decide to play on.
That's a decision they will both make in the next six weeks, according to Josh Morris.
"We will see how the body is feeling. Obviously it takes a little bit longer to recover but mentally, I feel pretty good," Josh Morris told reporters on Sunday.
"As I said, it’s more so the physical toll that it takes on your body each week. I will probably have a decision in the next four to six weeks on that."
If the pair do decide to play on, they won't be chasing big bucks elsewhere. The Roosters are the club the pair want to call home for the remainder of their careers.

"I wouldn’t want to play at any other club now. I’ve really enjoyed my time here. It’s a wonderful club. I honestly can’t say a bad word about it," Brett Morris said.
"If I was to continue on playing it would certainly be at this club and that’s something we will look at in the next couple of weeks. Obviously the club has decisions around other people they want to keep and that sort of thing. If it all fits, we will just have to wait and see."
As for the secret to their remarkable longevity?
"There’s no secret. It’s just hard work, to be honest. You have to put in the hard work if you want to see the results and we’re no different," Brett said.
"That’s the way we have gone about our business for our whole careers. We do our work on the training paddock, make sure we nail our training and then when it comes to game time, it just happens naturally."
Turning up to training and putting in the hard yards is certainly made easier when playing for the Roosters, who have overtaken the Storm as the NRL's benchmark club in the last few years.
"Whether it’s going to be the last year or not, when it comes closer to the end, you just really appreciate all the little things," Brett said.
"You enjoy coming to training, you enjoy spending more time with the boys and you enjoy the wins - you enjoy playing footy and the hard games. While we didn’t get the result on the weekend, it was very enjoyable to be out there in a high quality match. At this point of my career, I’m just enjoying every aspect of the footy."
Neither Brett nor Josh have any intention of playing State of Origin this year.
