NOIDA: At least two senior officials of Gautam Budh Nagar, including the chief medical officer (
CMO), tested
positive for Covid-19 in the past 24 hours, authorities said on Saturday.
CMO Dr Deepak Ohri tested positive for
Covid late on Friday night, after developing influenza-like symptoms. He has been admitted to Fortis hospital in Noida. Additional CMO Nepal Singh will be officiating as the CMO, officials said.
Meanwhile,
SDM (Sadar) Prasoon Dwivedi and his wife also tested positive on Saturday, and are admitted at Jaypee hospital. Deputy collector Anand Srinet will be officiating as SDM (Sadar.) Dwivedi’s driver and another staff tested positive about a month ago, but the officer himself was negative at that time.
Gautam Budh Nagar has three SDMs for Dadri, Sadar and Jewar, of who two have tested positive in the past 10 days. SDM (Jewar), her husband who is ADM (city) in Ghaziabad, and four other relatives had tested positive for Covid-19 on June 28.
“All officials are doing fine and are in isolation. Their office premises have been sanitised and the officials they came in contact with are being tested,” said Suhas LY, district magistrate.
The CMO, along with the district’s nodal officer for Covid, police commissioner, district magistrate and other senior officials conducted several inspections in the past week across the city, including that of JJ Colony cluster two days ago.
Sources said that all the senior officials, including the DM, CP and the nodal officer, were tested using antigen tests and have reported negative. Meanwhile, over 50 other officials from the administration and health department are being tested for Covid-19.
Dr Ohri joined as the CMO of Noida in April replacing Dr AK Chatturvedi, who had other health concerns. Dr Ohri is the third CMO of the district since the outbreak of Corona here.
