Fourth death due to Covid-19 in Ambala, diabetic woman dies

AMBALA: Ambala district has recorded fourth death due to Covid-19 as a woman identified as Manju Bala (51) of Housing Board Colony, Ambala Cantonment died late night at designated Covid hospital at MMIMSR, Mullana on Saturday late night, told district civil surgeon Dr Kuldeep Singh.
Dr Kuldeep said, “A 51-year-old woman of Housing Board Colony, Ambala Cantonment died of Covid-19 in Ambala district late night on Saturday. She was a patient of diabetes from the year 2011 and from 2013 onwards she suffered blood pressure and asthma.”
“The woman along with her husband (54) a superintendent at Cantonment Board Ambala office was found with influenza illness (ILI) symptoms during a survey on June 30. There samples were collected for Covid-19 testing on the same day on June 30. The couple reported positive for Covid-19 on July 2. Following, they were isolated at the MMU Medical College and Hospital, Mullana for treatment, where the woman died on Saturday night. Her husband is still undergoing treatment”, said Dr Kuldeep.
About the cremation of deceased Manju, Dr Kuldeep said, “Following due protocols, the dead body of deceased woman was handed over to the teams of Ambala Sadar Municipal Council (MC) for conducting her cremation in the presence of the health officers. They were instructed to cremate her at a designated cremation ground.”
Ambala Sadar MC secretary Rajesh Kumar told, “Deceased Manju has been cremated at a designated cremation ground in Ram Bagh Road area of Ambala Cantonment on Sunday afternoon. Due protocols were followed and the woman’s son and few other family members were allowed to perform the last rites and they were provided the PPE kits. The sanitation workers of MC were also provided PPE kits as per protocol. The cremation took place peacefully.”
13 fresh cases in Ambala
Thirteen people tested positive including an official of Central Jail Ambala for Covid-19 in Ambala district on Sunday, told district civil surgeon Dr Kuldeep Singh.
“With the recovery rate of 84.91% and fatality rate of 1.25%, the total tally of Covid-19 positive cases reached 371 in Ambala district on Sunday; out of which; 315 patients got discharged, four patients died, and 52 are active cases”, said Dr Kuldeep.
As for the fresh 13 cases, Dr Sukhbir said, “Thirteen people who tested positive on Sunday are four persons from Naraingarh including three women (aged 44, 62, 77) and man (22) all are contacts of a positive patient; a woman (45) of New Model Colony, Ambala City who was found with ILI symptoms in a survey; a girl (12) and a woman (45) of Ratangarh, Ambala City are contacts of a positive patient; a man (42) of Sector 8, Ambala city has travel history from Sonipat; two men (aged 29 and 39) of Sector 9, Ambala city were found with ILI symptoms during a survey; a woman (45) of Prem Nagar, Ambala City is a contact of a positive patient; a man (27) of Qila Mohalla, Ambala Cantonment is an accused in a criminal case, who was tested before his hearing in the district court; and a man (48) is an employee of Central Jail Ambala.”
