Pune police have now started implementing strict rules against lockdown violators

Pune: Considering the increasing spread of COVID-19 in the city, Pune police have now started implementing strict rules against those who are violating rules of social distancing and venturing unnecessarily.

The police questioned people in the city travelling during the curfew time. Accordingly, the police took action against 97 people for violating the curfew in the city at night. Even cases against 69 people were registered for travelling without permission. 

Infection due to coronavirus in on the rise in the city for the past few days. Every day 800 to 900 COVID-19 patients are found in the city. Therefore, efforts are being made by the health and district administration to control the contagion. However, after the curfew was relaxed, a large number of citizens were seen leaving their homes and crowding at public places. The number of patients is also increasing in the non-containment area. 

Because of such adverse conditions, the police administration began to continue its work in terms of the safety of the citizens. The Police Commissioner, Dr K Venkatesham said, “The lockdown was relaxed from July 1 to make the daily life of the citizens more comfortable. However, the threat of corona has not yet been averted. Therefore, citizens need to adhere to social distancing norms and must wear the mask.”

The Joint Commissioner of Police Dr Ravindra Shiswe said, “Citizens should understand the current status of coronavirus. Citizens should not leave their homes at night without any reasons except for essential services. They must keep proof of what work they are going out for. Do follow the rules strictly.”
